iPhone give-away timetable
We planned to hand out the iPhone when our membership reaches 10,000, but there were always some other urgent problems to fix, especially after our host company banned our main software contractor last year. Now, as our membership topped 20,000, we are ready to get this done! So, here is the plan:
1. Feb 3rd, end of eligibility: New members joined after that day will no longer be eligible. Our members have sent about 15,000 outstanding membership invitations, and we would like to give everybody time to process those invitations. For the purpose of calculating the number of tickets earned, invitations issued after Feb 3rd will also not count. If you qualify for tickets to the give-away: please email us by Feb 5th at bigaymen@gmail.com, the subject should be "iPhone giveaway", list your email address, exactly which members you have successfully invited to join us. If you posted link from your page to ours, please include the url of the page in your email.
2. Feb 5--10th, Ticket assignment. We will post publicly how many tickets you have earned, and the drawing numbers on each tickets.
3. Feb 11th, Drawing: To be 100% fair, we will not do our own drawing. Instead, we will piggyback on the PowerBall lottery. PowerBall (http://www.powerball.com/) is the biggest lottery in the United States, run collectively by 33 state governments (http://www.powerball.com/pb_about.asp). If we have less than 2301 tickets outstanding, then we will map on to the PowerBall by assign each ticket one whiteball number and one powerball number. The winning ticket will be the one that matches the Feb 11th PowerBall drawing's powerball number and at least one whiteball numbers. (If we have more than 2301 tickets, we will assign another white ball number to all tickets; details will be published when we know how many tickets are outstanding.)
There is a small possibility that more than 1 ticket will meet that criteria; in that case, the ticket's whiteball number that comes out first is the sole winner. We will use the number published on http://www.powerball.com/powerball/pb_numbers.asp, and the number more to the left comes out first. If no ticket wins in one drawing, then we will use the results of the next drawing (Feb 14th), and so on.
