Hyacinth's Death
Hyacinth was the lover of Apollo and a Spartan prince. This is the portrayal of his death. I feel the myth and painting are equally beautiful and symbolic of the fact gay culture has always been here.

Ancient Greek and Roman Mythology is a wealth of information. But like most stories in life they are metaphors for something else. The fun thing about stories and metaphors is we can all derive our own meaning from them and maybe use them provide us wisdom with our own human stories. It's great that you derive that meaning from this particular story. Although some times I wish western art and society would explore more stories from other cultures as a way to find common ground with cultures or peoples that are considered to be the "other"?
