Sydney Mardi Gras 09- Who's going?.... suggestions and or advice?

Hey Guys so i went to Syd Mardi Gras last year and funnily enough didnt see any of the parade.....heading back this year and am looking for a good vantage point to see it from, balcony overlooking oxford st....grandstand....or should i just get there early and bring an esky....any advice would be appreciated
