So who to blame, how did we come about? Hormones, environment OR is it in the genes?
I've heard some wacky stories and would like to receive some of your views and opinions.
It's either that we have too much estroegen in our bodies (female hormone), or it's the way we've been brought up, our childhood's, etc. (some boys play rugby whilst other write poetry!) OR it's simply in our family's gene pool and has been passed down from one generation to the next.
Does anyone know for definite? Do we choose to be gay or is it our instict?
Have also read that they're trying to "cure" homosexuality by removing the gene from the willing parents' DNA - sick, what kind of parents would request something like that???

well i heard that its 1 in 10 children who are born are homosexual, i also heard that if you are in a long line of boys that you are more likley to be homosexual, in my case i am the 14th boy to be born in my family, although my family has about 26 girl schildren, the 14 boys is still a big number, and i was the last to be born, sooo i hpoe that helps....as for the DNA thing i think that that is rediculopus and not called for, besides there is no "cure" for being gay, its not a illness, theres notthing wrong with us, its the rest of the world that needs to be "cured" of there illness, hatred!

think it could be either nature or nurture. My moms side of the family is a very caring and sensitive type of people. i have 6 gay/lesbin cousins on that side of the family and our family is very excepting. it could possibly be that the way we were raised some how made us homosexual. I lean rather to DNA though. I mean its not like you decided "i want to be gay", its the way we are wired. For example when you are around someone you like your hormones start racing maybe you got a waif of there pheromones and its driving you crazy. its not like you can control what your mind likes. I say WE homosexuals are God's population control. God made us so that we could decrease the overpopulated world and we except the children others didn't want to or couldn't take care of. We are God's earth Stabelizers.

well darwin said that homosexuality is not natural because the main aim of the life is to reproduce. however he also said that each animal is in a contest of the fittest. if this is the case then many people believe that gays exist because the help to keep the population under control. thus not leading to over population. if u look at the rules of evolution then this would make sense. so the gay gene exist to help keep a healthy population which wont over use resourses and with all the problems the world has at the moment with over population, you can see how this could be true.

Mankind and womenkind have spent to long trying to label and find reason to everything, which at some levels is absolutely essential. With homosexuality i belive we over compensate because of the biggots and anti humans in the world!!
We are who we are, the only thing to do is to embrase it and not question, thats what it is to be truly human.
A friend once said to me that homosexualiy was natures way of balancing out the sexes, population control.LOL
There are so many philosophies, but dont you find that most have negative conatations or try to cause doubt, to question our selfs and our right to exist as we are?
I am not a christian or of any denomination but if i were i would think GOD would want me to be true to myself and others and not look for examples or reasons for why i am.
The list just goes on and on about why we are gay, i would rather just be gay or straight cus you never know what tomorrow will bring??
Just a few thoughts. :)

Well, in one Italian study the scientist found a genetic trait that is traceable and can account for 20% of gay and bi males. It is a family trait which makes the females way more prolific but makes the males more likely to be gay or bi. This type of trait is called an antagonistic trait in that while it does not help the individual to procreate in the case of the male it remains in the genetic material because it gives such a large advantage to the family through the females. This also shows the flaw in the old argument that were homosexuality genetic it would die out and eventually there would be no gay or bi men.
Another study of siblings found that each subsequent son born to the same mother is more likely to be gay or bi. Son # 3 is twice as likely to be same sex attracted as son #1.
So at this point what seems to be emerging from the science in the field is that same sex attraction in the male does not have a singular causation and seems to be a response to multiple developmental events or characteristics. What also seems to be emerging from the studies is proof that claims of it being a lifestyle choice are ridiculous.

I am 1st born son, my 2nd cousin is 1st born son, another 2nd cousin is first born son.... all gay. So much for the 3rd son theory. I call it the Great Grandmother theory. Our Grandmothers were 3 sisters.
The only choice is to live openly and true to yourself without trying to conform to anyone elses mold. Life is to short to live a lie.

I think its genetic.
The long line of boys thing, is an interesting thery.
But I only came out 7 yeras ago: and I thonk knowing ones sexuality and identity is more inportant than the whole bi straight or gay issue.
As for the parents evtracting the dna strand-please, what crap!
